Uploads to NIKE - Problem could be USB Port

"With my first watch, I had problems with battery life and loading to NIKE. T returned the watch for a replacement. I had the same problems UNTIL I decided to use the USB extension wire that came with the watch. When I pluged it into my computer and then Plugged the Watch into the extension, my problems went away (the watch still seems to have a somewhat short battery life, but I can record 11 miles of walking (about 3 hours) for two straight days (total 22 miles and 6 hours without a problem. The watch then shows about 20% battery life left. I would also note that besides the watch GPS, I use the shoe transmitter and also the heart rate transmitter for my WALKS (I don't run - too old).
I think the problem stems from the fit being too lose in a standard USB port while the extension piece has a tighter fit allowing the contacts to transfer data and power better.
My only suggestion to anyone having transmission problems and battery life is to try the USB extension cable for a week. If your results change, write about it. If they don't change, write about it also."

"For those of us lazy people who don't actually run/bike every day, this product needs a sleep/battery saver function. No, I don't leave my computer on so leaving the watch plugged in is not an option.
Otherwise, I'm pleased with the product.

"Right out the box, plugged it in, saw that it was charging and when started the firmware update, watch went blank. Stopped working and the update ceased with the message "error 23". Watch face completely blank, would not respond to soft reboot, completely dead. Called support, found out the fuel band had the same titled error which was fixed with a firmware update however no idea when the sport watch error would be fixed. Also, no idea if the watch error 23 and the fuel band error 23 are the same type of errors. And despite a known error with the software, no fix in sight.
It's dead, Jim."

Called customer support they fixed me right up. I think some of these negative comments are fake. Some people complain about any little thing. I don't know how those kind of people go through the pain of running and training. We have it pretty good with these gadgets. think they are all amazing. So what if there are little snags here and there. It sure beats writing down your runs in a notebook. Just my Opinion.

"After reading all the different reviews good and bad I decided go with this watch to start tracking my runs. I have done a handful of runs and all are accurate. I have an easy time finding satillites and if you connect to Nike before you run it helps speed this process up. I also think that the website is great. It has a lot of different options that other gps watches dont provide. I think that this is a great product and easy to use!!!"

can they track me down while running?
onJun 24, 2012
My question relates to the GPS function. Let's suppose that I let someone be checking my nike account at a PC, and then I go running. Is it possible for this person to keep track of my route at real time (i.e. during my run) and find my exact spot each time by looking at my nike account? Does this GPS gadget make this possible?

"A good watch, overall. I run between 100-130 miles week. I only really use this watch for workouts. Wearing it all the time will drive you crazy. It is nice for an accurate estimate. The pace is about 12 seconds slow--atleast for me. But once you know then it works great. I love the lap feature as well."

"I got this watch a few months ago and the first time out I had the dreaded issue of not syncing to the satellite. After doing some research I found that syncing to the computer prior to the run helps find the satellite faster and standing still also helps. Since then I have had no issues. The GPS is accurate, as long as you account for some variations in your tracking. For example, running under tree cover and taking short corners allows a certain margin of error as the GPS has issues tracking you and then will draw a straight line from the last spot it had you located. My watch recently suffered from a crack in the glass after a run and Nike was great to replace it with few questions asked. Good product, gets me running more, tracks my progress well and that's all I can ask for in a GPS watch!"

He loved how it motivated him, so I bought one for myself and after two runs I am very happy. I love how it keeps track of how far you ran, and your times to motivate you to get faster and stronger."

"When I read reviews prior to purchase, I like to read all the bad things. People said GPS took to long to sync and some said the tap feature for back lighting wasn't functional.
With my use as of today, I started the watch syncing, walked out of my driveway and the thing was already synced to both GPS and shoe transmitter.
GPS was started on my Nike Plus watch and an app on my Android phone. In the end, both calculated the exact same distance, time, and pace for my run. Very accurate.
As far as the tap feature for activating back lighting and lap timing. That function works like a charm. At first I believed it was supposed to be touch screen, but it is actually a TAP. You have to tap the watch itself, not necessarily the screen. A nice tap with an index finger will do the trick.
I would definitely recommend this product to friends and family. Worth the money."

"I've had my SportWatch for a week and my FuelBand for two weeks. I enjoyed the motivation of my FuelBand enough to decide it was time to replace my Garmin Forerunner 101... yes, an ancient beast by runner's standards. While effective, it was bulky, but the new models were far too expensive in my opinion.
Along comes the Nike+ system and my enjoyment of the FuelBand, so I study the SportWatch, read the reviews, and make the purchase. It arrives promptly, even ahead of anticipated delivery date, and basically works right out of the box.
I've found that most issues were easily resolved by reinstalling the Nike+ interface and logging out of the Nike+ Running website if you're not seeing your run posted. I only had to do each of those things once, and have not had a single issue since.
I've found that the initial linking took the longest, probably due to searching for the sensor which I'm not using until my Vomero+ 7s arrive (yes, I liked the Nike+ system well enough to purchase my first pair of Nike+ running shoes). Since then, it links in a blink and is ready to go before I even have the front door locked.
My only concern with the SportWatch is the same one I have for the FuelBand, which is how well it fits when I run. Like a ton of runners, my wrists and hands will swell as I run. They always have, regardless of training, ever since the first Gulf War. My Medium FuelBand is nice and loose until I run, and then with all the links, it's too tight. Same with the watch."

"It worked perfect for 2 weeks, then it started having trouble connecting to the maps. Now it wont' even connect to the satallite on a clear day! I've asked Nike to replace or refund; check back here for an update on their service.
Oh yeah! The Earth is shrinking and I can prove it. My 4 mile path from 2 months ago is now only 3.9 miles. And when I walk with my wife, we go 3 miles. When I run the same path, it's only 2.95. Hard to believe I can outrun radio signals!"

"I've been really disappointed in this watch. The GPS takes forever to link. It's taken up to 20 min to link when I am over halfway done with my run. I switch between running shoes and don't always have the ability to use the shoe device. I am going to have to return it and probably switch to another brand since there is no way this is reliable for training. Who has 20 min to wait outside standing for it to sync?"

"I love my watch. I have logged over 250Km so far and have had zero issues with it. I have had an issue with the COACH function on the website where I was using a home computer and a work computer to set up my training for the Marine Corps Marathon. When entering the date 10/28/2012 for the race date, it would keep changing it to 10/19/2012. I emailed tech support and they told me to clear my cache and do it again. That fixed the problem even though it took a couple of weeks for them to reply. Now there is a new website launching on 05/31/2012 so everything will be lost except for my actual run data. I'm okay with that as long as they still have a marathon training program. I did copy my current training program to my calendar just in case.
CON: I wish they had an Android app."

"The watch has exceeded my expectations. I have not had issues with accuracy. The average pace feature works great, and I love setting it to manual lap and getting feedback for any lap distance I wanted during the run. Just slap it once, run for a bit, slap it again, and it tells you the lap distance, time, and average pace for that lap. Then when you upload to Nike+, you can see your laps, and mile splits. Genius. I have waited a while to get this watch, so that Nike had time to work the bugs out. Things are not perfect, but Nike has shown that they are dedicated to making things better. With the new website rolling out and firmware updates as needed for the watch, things are looking good."

"I just started track this year, and I chose to run in the longer distance races because thats what i like to do. At first when i got this watch i was an alternate for everything. I only got to run on the alternate wednesday meets which everyone ran at. My favorite race then was the mile. I used to run 6 minute and 30 second mile, but now my current pr is 5 minutes and 16 seconds. This watch made me motivated to run everyday and train so I could run in the big meets. In the middle of the season i tried the toughest race out of all the events: the 800. When i started i ran a 2:47 800, but now i run 2:13 and i'm competitve in the open 8 race now. This watch has done a lot for me. It's also a very nice watch that you could wear. People in school always tell me that i have a nice watch. If I were you i would buy it."
