LED is not waterproof and is of poor quality

"The Nike+ SportBand sounded so good that I had to get it. Well, after my very first run I jumped into the shower for 5 minutes and the LED started to disappear. I then ordered a second one through Nike's Advance Exchange program...this one was even worse. As soon as I opened the package the FedEx guy gave me....guess what I found...the LED had a blank line right through the center....I didn't even open the box and it was already messed up! I am waiting on the third band...hoping it's the lucky one....if it's not I am going to get a refund and never purchase a Nike product again...at least not the the things they are not known for like electronics, and such...I will just stick to the clothing and the shoes. I am very dissappointed since this is the first time I have ever baught a Nike product....and I mean ever...and it may be the last."

"I own the Garmin Forerunner 405 as well as the sportband and I can say that in terms of being able to interact with a global community of runners and trainers, the Sportband is in a class by itself. I have not been able to calibrate it to be as acccurately as I would like (yet), but out of the box its pretty close and very very easy to use."

"I am extremely disappointed with the inaccuracy of the Nike Sportband...distance and pace were off by 18-20%. I'm a neutral runner and haven't had problems with other products that use similar technology. The display is also at a difficult angle to read during runs."

"Was a little difficult to figure out at first. Then in one of the many directions, I finally read I have to run with it first before I plug it into the computer. Since then... great! Very lightwieght and it did not bother me at all while running."

"I love the sportband and the Nike+ website. I've been using it for over a week now. The only problem I encountered is that it does not seem to be very sweatproof. Some sweat dripped into the connection and the display is now damaged. I have contacted cust svc and will be receiving a new band.
Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. Hope the replacement is a bit more sweatproof.

Grest Idea, but product needs improvement

"Nike has the right ideas about the multiple uses of this product. The product has many flaws. The price was OK, but after six runs, one of which in humid conditions, the screen blanked out.
The calibrations are anywhere from a quarter to half mile off - (I used a college track for calibration, ran four laps and said i had run 7 tenths of a mile)
Read the warranty information carefully - the store I bought it from did send me a new one when I returned the old one. I don't wear it in humid conditions. This has a lot of potential, but it needs improvement.

I decided to purchase the product and try it for myself.
I have to say that in my limited use of this product I have not had any probs at all.
I followed the instuctions and everything works really well.
I am glad that purchased this product. VERY NICE!!!

Not accurate
, August 28, 2008
By torresworld
from SUGAR GROVE, IL
"I ran with the SportBand several times and so far it only showed a nearly accurate mileage reading only once. Every other time the milage showed way less than the actual mapped out mileage. Just this morning I ran 2.22 miles and the SportBand calculated 1.67. I tried to use the calibration tab following the instructions to adjust it but it never worked."

"The training features are really helpful. I like the running routes around the area. THis has help find interesting places to go running.
The band is light and feel comfortable.
I wish the clip can be incorporated into my work shoes. I would love to use the band as a pedometer."

Just want I was looking for
, August 26, 2008

"I am new to running, so I was looking for something to help me set my pace, monitor my time, and tell me how far I was actually running. This is great. At first I had problems getting calories to calculate, but it is fixed and working properly now.
I love that I can just plug it into my computer and it uploads all the info and saves it so I can come back to it and see how I've progressed!
My only complaint is that I cannot find the sensor pouch anywhere. I have other Nike's that are not Nike+ that I would love to use, but don't have anywhere to put the sensor.

"I love using this. Seeing a pace that is just on the border between good and not quite fast enough makes me want to try a little more. I also honestly never would have guessed my miles added up to even a third of what they do, and it is encouraging to have this little thing counting for me. Be gentle with the display, though - avoid having it bumped into or in the bathroom with lots of steam."

"I must admit, I love this product--but it could be better. The sport band allows me to keep track of my running workouts and to race without all the hassle of driving or early starts. My only complaints: you can't see the stats at dusk or at night because it doesn't light up, you can't track cross-training exercises on the online log (like biking or swimming), and I have had a number of runs that haven't been logged properly. Overall, it is a good product and is highly entertaining-I would recommend it, but I am hoping nike comes out with new & imporved model soon."
