Works Nicely
, May 8, 2008

"Worked great right out the box. No problems, for me, setting up the software on Vista and then putting it my nike+ shoe. After reading the instructions was able to go out for a run and I had no problems running with it the first time. It took 5min to download and install the software, charge the device, put it in the shoe and go out for a run. No problems so fare. The device required calibration, but other then that easy to operate and easy to setup.
However when uploading the data to my computer and then to nike.com, I found the graphs to be hard to read.
Overall a great product, but the software needs to have more features."

Good idea, not so user friendly

"Tried this out at the Santa Monica Classic a week ago when they were offering an opportunity to try their sneakers with the band. They were giving out new bands and sensors but even the Nike reps were having a hard time making the sensors match up with the band and had to open new ones that actually worked. I loved the concept of it and really liked the IDEA of being able to look down and see how far you've come no matter the route you decided to take that day. I also liked that it calculated calorie burned although mine wasn't configured so I didn't know my output. My only complaints: 1) placement of the display - a slight pain to have to turn your arm around to have to read it (minor issue) 2) display hard to read unless you're in just the right lighting - hard to see when it's super sunny or really overcast. Would be nice too if it had a function where you can "light up" the display if you're running at night. Overall an excellent concept - just needs some tweaking."

Works as advertised

"This is s a great little device. I'm not a music guy, so didn't want to shell out for an iPod. This wrist band is just the ticket. I'm not a techie, but I found the band easy to use and easy to upload the data. I love being able to track my progress on the internet.
My only complaint is that I wish the display was easier to read. Hard to see in some conditions, but for me this is not a deal-breaker."

Wait for Upgrade

"My sportband came with a scratched display. I had a hard time reading the writing on the band. The picture on the web site is deceiving. It is not white on black. It came saying charged not charged, charged, not charged... I sent it back for a new one. Thought maybe I got a dud. I got a reply saying they would not exchange it. Got a refund instead. Makes me question getting a new one."

This is really cool

"I wanted to be able to track my runs and see how I am doing (I am a visual person). this is perfect! I held off on the iPod system because I can't always run with an iPod (trial running...it is dangerous to not be able to hear your surroundings). I ran a 5K this weekend, and this helped me stay on track. I was able to glace down at my wrist easily and see how far I had gone and what pace I was keeping. I am SO happy that I bought this!!"

Sensor issues
, May 5, 2008
By Rupert505
from Albuquerque, NM
"I couldn't wait to receive the product, and the anticipated freedom from the Ipod; however, after following the instructions to the letter of the manual, I've found that the sportband does not appear receive a sufficient enough signal from the sensor. At one point, I had to remove the band from my arm and hold it near my knee. At that point, my pace, time, etc, started to display.
I placed the sportband back on my wrist, and the reading was intermittent. At several times during the run, the chronology was running, but the sensor did not register my pace. I never had this issue with the sensor attached to my Ipod. Not only that, with my Ipod, I was running with New Balance shoes, and the sensor taped to my shoe, and it worked fine. Now I’m running with the proper Nikeplus footwear, the new sportband, and I’m having bad results.
Bottom line, thus far, my experience with the sportband has been frustrating."

Good Start, but Needs Improvement
, May 2, 2008
By firefly24
from Princeton Junction, NJ
"I've used my SportBand a handful of times now, and, for the most part, it works as designed. The distance, timing, and caloric burn features are all accurate, and data uploads take little effort. That being said, there are two areas for improvement:
1. The pace function is quite inaccurate. I tested this running a steady pace on a treadmill. The distance was dead on, the timing was dead on, but the pace was off. I was running an easy 9:13 min/mile pace, but the SportBand never said I was going any slower than 8:40/mile. 30s off! Additionally, the time and distance cannot be viewed at the same time, so it is also difficult to quickly calculate the pace in your head.
2. As other have said, the display can be difficult to see. the product photo shown here appears to be enhanced to show the text as white. In reality, it is much darker."

Impossible to see display
, May 1, 2008
By TexasRuss

"The concept is great, but the execution is flawed because it is impossible to see the display.
Amber on Black? Did anyone test this? If you run anywhere other than inside a gym with bright lights you will NOT be able to see the display. Run at night? Forget it. Run outside? Forget it. I was VERY disappointed. I bought a few of these for gifts, but we are returning all of them.
The Nike web site shows white on black. That would have been much better."

Truly Awesome

"A wonderful piece of kit!
I am able to list runs on my website, RunThe5.com.
A flash plugin lets you automatically display your past 5 runs, your best runs and your overall averages. An outstanding piece of kit that so far has worked flawlessly."

Nice idea, but severely crippled
, April 22, 2008
By BlakeArnold
from Fredericksburg, VA
"The Nike+ Sportband is exactly what I have been waiting for, a convenient inexpensive way to track my distance and speed on my runs. But after a couple days of used I have noticed some features that are severely lacking that I hope Nike can fix some with a software update.
Pros:
Nike+ Speed and time without iPod
Good-looking design
Synch with Nikeplus.com and charge via USB
Small form factor
Cons:
No Backlight, cannot use in early morning or night with this product
You cannot use stopwatch unless the foot sensor is near the sportband
Cannot give splits/laps during a run
Cannot view Time of day during a run, only stopwatch/pace/mile/calories
Slightly waterproof, the manual clearly states not to swim with the sportsband on"

Amazingly easy!

"This is so much better, simpler and easier than using the iPod and iTunes. No settings to fiddle with- I downloaded the application and charged the band. I went for a run, plugged it into my computer and it went right to my profile in less than 3 seconds! Flawless!"
