"I bought this with a watch band specifically to run with and i have had two go bad on me from the moisture getting in it. My second one will not work at all and Apple said they would only take care of the problem once. My question to them is if you are going to make a product that is meant to be used for exercise, wouldn't you test for this? Trust me when i say I love Apple products so i am not hating on apple, but they could do better with this one!
I give it two stars because it is great when it works, but 2 in 5 months for the same reason is un-acceptable"

"i LOVE my iPod. Best Christmas gift ever. It's nice that I can click it on my shirt rather than wearing an arm band for the phone or IPod touch. I find that distance, speed and pace info are pretty accurate even though I have never calibrated the iPod.
Also... not true about playlists being played in alphabetical order. When I run, I start my music first while I'm still warming up. If you select the music first, you can then go to Nike+ icon and select "Now Playing." With that option, it will play your music in the order that it is in your play list or it will continue to shuffle if that is the option you picked.
Obviously this has less capabilities than running with a new iPhone, but it's also simpler and sleeker."

"I like to make running playlists with songs in a specific order with a specific bpm. When you use the nano with Nike+ it plays your playlist in alphabetical order, which is extremely annoying. It won't even shuffle, which would at least better than the alpha playback."

Shuffle
onJun 30, 2012
Check to make sure the song isn't set to repeat itself. I had the same problem with it not shuffling and found that the song was set to repeat.
To fix:
When playing a song swipe the screen to the left
you should see the fast forward slide bar, the repeat and shuffle symbol
Make sure the shuffle symbol is selected
You can also select repeat as well
This should take care of your issue
Happy runnin'

Another training failure in the design
onJun 23, 2012
The Pear is a training system that focuses on verbal feedback while running and it is integrated into the music of your nano. The Nano clicks into the Pear.
That being said, any Nano that can play the song list in the order you want can be attached.
The Pear focuses on what you choose as the training program, which can include heart rate zone training... WHICH IS WHY PEOPLE SET THEIR PLAYLISTS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Many runners have a routine... a route... a plan... and they don't want their cooldown song for post-run recovery to pop up during an uphill, zone-busting sprint!
It's great that this Nano can toss in some info... but maybe Nike and Apple should look at this other tool, which I don't really consider "competition" but rather an additional tool that's a real-time running coach... in a water-resistant box that can use a Nano that plays your list the way you like it.
Sometimes, I look at issues like this and I have to wonder if someone in R&D missed out on seeing the outside world, where people have been running to music for decades, and prefer to have their music, their way. LOL

"I purchased my 6th generation iPod nano and have been extremely unhappy with it. I started having trouble with it day one. When I clipped it to the sleeve of my shirt, and other places it fell off continuesly. The only place I could clip it and feel confident was around my neckline. After one of my runs I tried to shut it off while my hands were a little sweaty, it malfunctioned and has not worked since. :( I have wrote Apple but they have yet to respond.
I am currently either using my iPhone 4 or older generation iPod. The Nike plus with gps works great on my phone.
I am a huge fan of both Nike and Apple products but the 6th generation iPod nano was a major disappointment. I would only recomend it if you have a pocket to keep it in and your'e not planning on breaking a sweat.

Call corporate
onAug 5, 2012
I am an apple addict and 5 years ago I had problems with an iMac. Weekly, I would call Applecare for assistance.
Three years later an Apple employee told me to call corporate and ask for a new iMac. I did and they exchanged my old Mac for a brand new desktop.
Give them a call and describe your problem and ask for a supervisor to ask for a new iPod nano. I have never had a problem with mine.

"I recently bought the Nike+ chip b/c I'm training for a 1/2 Marathon. THe first few times I ran it worked perfectly. I loved how I could pick my own music playlists and the Nike+ speaks through the nano to my and counts down the K or Miles. But recently It has been taking a while for the chip to click with my nano and sometimes I don't notice until a mile or two in, which really ruins trying to track my progress online."

"I've always loved my nano. I had the same issues as everyone else with the armbands :P can't stand them. enter nano! love it. Does everything I need it to. Syncs my runs, gives me updates on how I'm doing, tracks my best time. I wear it for everything hiking, running, walking and riding my horse. Wish it came in a water resistant version... Then I would be in heaven!"

"Very disappointed to find out that my new Nike+ Polar monitor I just purchased does not work with my brand new IPod Nano!
I did find out that the older 5th generation Nano did work with the Heart rate monitor. Apple's products seem to be loosing functionality as they evolve. Crazy!"

"I have an Ipod, it has 5000 plus songs on it. I hated wearing it on my upper arm in that sporty thing so I bought the new nano. I love it. I synced my workout tunes and a few other playlists and now I have a condensed selcetion of great music to rock out to when I am running, walking, hiking, biking or whatever. I bought the rubber watch strap that the nano fits in and am a super fan. If you want a boom box and a DJ then you may be out of luck but for me I got just what I was after.
Only critisism and this has been the case with Appple products always is buy a set of earbuds or headphones that suit you.

accuracy w/ wrist strap?
onAug 23, 2012
I'm looking into the wrist strap for when I run because I don't like not being able to easily access the buttons when it's clipped to my shirt - is the gps still pretty accurate when on your wrist compared to clipped to your hip?

"I've gotten a lot of mileage out of this little device. The back has been fashioned into a clip which is especially handy. Considering how most women's fitness clothing do not have pockets, wearing a much larger music player in a sport fanny pack can be a hassle. So is carrying it inside a sport bra btw. 16 gigs vs. the old 1 gig nano really boosted my interest to make it worth buying. If I had to ask for another feature? Nano cam for race day shots."

"Apple...FAIL!!!!!! This is a super shuffle on steroids not a Nano. How difficcult was it to keep all the characteristics of 5g nano? I love running but if you're planning to buy this version to be your exercising partner you´ll make a huge mistake (I want the wheel back) Why? Because you'll have to stop running if you want > or to || and to play again. Unless you select carefully your favorite tracks you´ll be doing nothing but ruining your training sessions,On Nike website you see pictures of ppl that is supposed to run (or just jogging/walking?) with the nano only attached with that useless clip, How is that you have to buy the "special" headphones (poor sound quality/no ergonomy here) with the > control as an accesory? Battery life is much more shorter than announced, just 8 not 24.
my old 80gb Classic is still my best running friend.
