The Nike Special Field Boot: Built for high-speed respondersA modern, athletic boot designed for first responders, the Nike Special Field Men's Boot was engineered to the specifications of world-class heroes, from military professionals to rescue and law personnel. The result: the lightest, fastest-drying, highest-mobility performance boot Nike has ever made.BenefitsQuick-drying synthetic leather overlays for durability and supportMultiple ventilation zones that allow the boot to breathe and drain quicklyGenuine leather footbed for durability, flexibility and comfortNike Free-inspired outsole, designed for traction and a natural range of motionSticky rubber forefoot lugs for exceptional traction on all terrainWeight: 15.9 ounces (men's size 9)DesignFirst responders are athletes in every sense of the word, but their moves are infinitely more vital. To meet their intense physical demands, the Nike SFB was built with the latest athletic footwear technology. Parts of the forefoot are puncture- and laceration-resistant, while the midsole is super-cushioned and extra flexible, ensuring a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The directional-traction outsole features reverse edges and a slightly raised heel for better grip when walking and running downhill.FitSynthetic leather overlays make the Nike SFB tough yet bendy, requiring no break-in period. It's comfortable right out of the box. The sturdy outer shell creates a snug fit, protects against scuffing, and helps keep water out, while the anatomical sockliner moves easily with the foot and adds support and cushioning. A special lock-lace system helps keep the foot in place and maintain a comfortable, customized fit during extended wear.VentilationThe Nike Special Field Boot is made for hot weather. Breathable, quick-drying fibers work to keep the foot comfortable in warm conditions, and sweat-wicking materials help the boot dry out fast.OriginsDuring World War II, Nike Co-Founder Bill Bowerman served as a member of the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. Upon his return, he became the head track and field coach at his alma mater, the University of Oregon. It was there that he honed a gift for creating high-performance footwear for his athletes. This boot is a realization of both of Bowerman's worlds.

"I've had my NIKE SFBs for 9 months now, and love wearing it.
The SFB does not require breaking-in, and for me has been the same size as my running shoes and military issue boots. I normally wear 8 wide boots, but the SFB's size 8 worked well for me. If you order a pair that doesn't fit, you can send it back requesting another shoe size or a refund.
I've worn this boot for many 4-8 mile ruck marches, land nav courses and for every-day use while in uniform. When it gets wet during land navigation courses it dries really quick compared to all other combat boots. The SFB is really lightweight, literally feeling like you're wearing running shoes but at the same time is durable enough to handle rucks and any other training exercises that doesn't require kicking in doors.
I'd say the only downside to this product is that it's not always in stock. If NIKE kept a larger inventory of these boots a lot of soldiers wouldn't opt to buy other boots from the PX or online."

"I ordered this boot while I was deployed. I was amazed by how comfortable it was when I first tried it on. That being said it did require some break in. The fabric and leather around the heal would sometimes dig into my heal creating sores and blisters (really most military boots can do this in the first few days of wearing). My main problem with the boot is the rubber toe cap. Immediately it started to separate from the boot. After a few weeks, some patrols and some super glue, I had enough and had to "force retire" them. I feel nike has a great boot here but needs to work on the durability to have something that blows the competition out of the water. Would I try them again? Yes."

"I wore my first pair in garrison for about a year and a half and noticed, like most everyone else, that these boots are not very good on smooth, slick (i.e. rainy) surfaces.
So, once my soles were pretty much all worn out, I decided to take them on a week-long FTX to see how they'd hold up. They did GREAT. They passed the test, and I'm now buying my second pair."

"I purchased these boots originally because I always wear the Nike Free for conducting PT. Noticed that these shoes had a similar sole and wanted to see if they felt the same. All I can say after wearing them is WOW!!! Have been doing road marches and to tell you the truth it almost feels like I am cheating. Great boot will definitley order more. Going to order the black ones for my motorcycle riding."

"I wore this boot for 8 months in Afghanistan. The material is thin and started getting small holes in the tongue area. The other problem was my shoelace always broke due to the design of the midportion of the boot laces. Overall, I would still purchase this boot as it is the most comfortable and light boot out there."

"Bought these a little over 3 months ago, and can't complain at all about the comfort of the boot. By far the most comfortable boots I've worn. My only problem, which is a huge one, is that they don't hold up very well. I've owned them for less than 4 months, and the laces are rubbing holes into the tongue of the boots. Right now I've got 3 small holes in each boot, and I can only assume they'll get worse. I'm currently deployed (desk job) and I'm not even sure if they'll make it another month and a half until I get home. Very dissappointing aspect of what would otherwise be the best boots I've owned."

"I wore these for my third tour in Afghanistan. I've tried a multitude of boots over the past 15 years, and by far these are the best. I'm 6' 250 lbs with all my gear and typically rough on boots. But, these have taken the abuse like a champ. They dry easily and fit like glove right out of the box. These are the only boots i'll wear. I plan on buying two additional pairs just in case they're discontinued. All in all a great boot at a good price."

"I'm will agree with every poster here... these boots rock. I've worn them on the dry ground and muddy terrain. I've marched and ran without any discomfort. I've landing on 2 different DZs in these badboys. If I could, I would ask the DoD to contract these boots for those who pound the pavement.
If you are a fan of the Nike Free 7.0 or any Free running shoe... then you know the comfort that these boots have."

"I purchased a pair of these boots while I was in Afghanistan. I got them in August of 2009 and returned from Helmand Province in June of 2010. I wore these boots every day for the entire ten months in some very austere areas. They were by far the most comfortable boots I have worn in the Army. My only issue is that Nike would not ship to an FPO or APO, so I had to ship them to my home and have my wife send them to me. I was worried about the durability, but they are still good to wear. I wear a size 10R and bought a 10. the 10 is perfect."

"I have to say that after wearing summer , steel toe and winter boots, this is the best investment I've made for my feets. After running 4 miles during PT and walking all over the motor pool I don't get as tired by the end of the day, it feels like I have my running shoes on.

"I am currently deployed to Iraq for the second time. I ordered a pair of these about 2 weeks ago and they are here already. I have never owned a more comfortable pair of boots in my life. The other comments are wrong. I believe these boots to weight less than my own running shoes. They run a little narrow but out of the box they are ready to go. I have worn them for 2 days and believe that on Day 1 I could have done a 12 miler and they wouldn't have been anything but pleasure. GREAT PRODUCT. This product is a must for any military member. Nike... You need to keep these in stock. I am ready to order 2 more pairs whenever you decide to restock the shelves. Also my size listed is wrong, I wear a 10.5."

"Im glad i was able to snag a pair of these. I know they are VERY functional but its like i dont even want to put these on they are amazing. I waited forever for them to restock and went through so much trouble just to get a couple more pair. Since you have a chance to get these NOW, GET THEM! I am currently in afghan on deployment 2 months away from my departure, I must say recieving these was the biggest morale boost of the entire deployment for me. First glance, they look amazing. They are highly comfortable. These feel as light as my nike rejuven8s! Im amazed at how military these boots are. They are well suited for every day use while on deployment, and perfect for garrison. My only hope is that nike will continue production of this model for years to come and eventually craft a winter boot.

"The first thing I noticed about these boots is how extremely light they are. Its really remarkable and it makes them great as an everyday boot. You put them on and notice straight away that they need no break in time and are extra breathable as well. In short, they are high performance boot that looks great and can be worn daily. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED."

"I bought these boots almost half way through my twelve month deployment to the Stan. They lasted me the rest of the tour and were even good enough to still wear home. I'm not sure if they would fair very well in N. Afghan but for flat terrian (RC South), when you need to shoot and move there is no better boot. MY entire platoon, including my PL wore these and still do even back in garrison. So roughly at 10 months or so now I see wear. Which is pretty typical for grunt boots. Can't beat the comfort. Buying a new set...time now."

"I am a sergeant in the US Army.
I used these boots for Air Assault school back in March. Awesome. Rucking made easy with these boots. No blisters or hot spots for the 6 and 12 mile rucks. I also tried the Daner's, but they are more of a winter boot. Finished the Bataan Death March (a 26.2 mile hike in the desert) in 7 hr 30 mins. Did fine for about the first 14-15 miles. The only problem I had was when going down hill, my toes would jam into the front of the boot, so I would recommend getting them a half size bigger if you plan on using them for running or long distance rucks. Best boot ever! I tell everyone about them. Also, NO BLISTERS AFTER 26 MILES!

"I have been in for nearly 18 years, 8 as a 19D and ten as a 18D and have had many boots over that time period and these are the best. They are the lightest boots I have owned, even lighter than a pair of jungles that I had gutted. Love the vents on the side, most boots now a days are missing that feature. They are true to Nike size, whatever size you wear in nike should work for you, I normally wear a wide but these boots fit me fine. I have been telling everyone that I come across about these boots, even complete strangers. Havn't ran them through any field time yet so I can't really talk about the durability yet."

"Both boots are lighter than a single boot of any pair i've ever had. Definitely go half a size up as i had a 6.5 in bates and got a 7 in nike, which is perfect.
These are so comfortable wearing ACUs all day is more bearable. you can actually roll and bend your foot in these, unlike a lot of other boots with ridiculously overdone ankle support and stiff soles. thank you, free technology. Love these a lot, planning on getting another pair sometime.
